Nanocyl Carbon Nanotubes in Polymer Matrix (JEC Composites Magazine / Issue N°48 May 2009)

29 May 2009

In past years, a lively curiosity and the need for stronger and lighter materials have led scientific research in the field of polymer composite materials to shift increasingly towards product development. One solution that has been developed involves the introduction of nanoparticles like carbon nanotubes into polymer composites. So far, final products reinforced with carbon nanotubes have shown great potential, although some issues remain to be solved for this solution.

The aim of the present work is to address such issues, for instance finding the most efficient and economically viable solutions to introduce carbon nanotubes in composites and to overcome common processing problems. The properties of the final composite material are also investigated and reported.
