STATICYL™ is Nanocyl’s trade name for a product range of dispersions of Multi-wall Carbon Nanotubes for silicone resins.
STATICYL™ exhibits electrical conductivity properties combined with excellent adhesion for a wide variety of substrates (glass, wood, metals, composites and thermoplastics) along with improved abrasion and scratch resistance.
The viscosity of STATICYL™ resins is shear-rate dependent which makes it the perfect candidate for non-dripping coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers.
STATICYL™ is available in a wide range of viscosities for sprayable and brushable coatings, and for gunnable sealants, too.
STATICYL™ can be used in a wide variety of applications where good electrical conductivity is required.
STATICYL™ has exhibited superior performance in applications where carbon black is currently being used for achieving electrical conductive silicones.
The mechanical properties of the silicone resin remain largely unchanged because a much lower concentration of carbon nanotubes is required to reach the same percolation value as with carbon black.
Even better, properties such as abrasion, elongation, tear and tensile are slightly improved through the use carbon nanotubes.
One application where Staticyl™ is very well suited for replacing carbon black is filled silicones for capacitive keypads. Here, STATICYL™ exhibits much better processability, and its performance is not influenced by humidity.
